And it looks like Epic Games has been heavily involved with the making of these PC ports overall. Seeing Unreal Engine is a property of Epic, it looks like Kingdom Hearts will be staying on the Epic Games Store for now. Long story short, Square Enix started using the Unreal Engine for the Kingdom Hearts series starting Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, the very short game with Aqua as its protagonist. He most notably explained why Square Enix decided to go with Epic Games Store.
