That being said, there is a second wire on com that is paired with the wire on z5 - leave that one in the com terminal and insert one end of the jumper with it in the com and tighten screw. Go ahead and remove the wire from z6 and com.

At the moment, I can't think of any other doors or windows that I haven't opened and closed. I don't beleive we have a terminal on the attic door, but I opened it for good measure and didn't see a terminal from ground level (couldn't unfold the ladder at the time to closely inspect) - still have the trouble light. Is there a way that I can confirm Z6 is a smoke detector? What other ways can I reset a smoke detector? Will the *72 command create other problems if I don't have 4 wire smokes? How do I find out what zone 6 is, if anything, so I can resolve the issue?Īttempted using a piece of wire to touch both contacts (while the existing wire is still in place) - not sure if i was successful on the COM end since there are 2 wires going into it - believe I was in contact with part of the wire on one of those going in. This morning, I went through the house an opened every window and door on the first floor to see if maybe one of them wasn't labeled - no luck. All other active zones have been named - sunroom, kitchen, dining room, etc - zone 6 is just "zone 6". The problem is that Zone 6 isn't labeled in my owner's manual (2nd owner of home) - 1-5 are and 7-? are too - 6 appears to have been skipped. After exploring that, the panel indicated there were several zones "open" and that I couldn't arm the alarm until those were cleared. I was able to get the panel to respond, but the trouble light stays on. So I reassembled the motion detector and tried to reset the panel. My first thought was I hit an electrical wire with the drill - I cut a small opening in the drywall so I could see what was behind it - there is a wire, but there were no knicks on the wire wahtsoever and that circuit still works so now I'm thinking the timing of me drilling and it going bonkers was conicidental. The panel was unresponsive, tried tripping every breaker, including the main to no avial, and unplugged the battery - the only thing I could do to make it stop was to disconnect the siren. Disconnected the wiring, picked new location and drilled hole in wall for wire - alarm went nuts. Was moving a wired motion detector last night. New to the forum and hope someone here has an answer for my delimma.
